Five times in my life I have isolated myself to observe and define a radical change in thinking requiring business and society to accept new points of view and adapt to emerging changes.
First in 1983, Marketing Myopia (Theodore Levitt article in Harvard Business Review) defined a significant shift in understanding the difference between marketing and selling). Led to BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT GROUP: Consulting, Training, and M&A Intermediary. Power Selling / Needs based core competencies and culture change.
Note: The term “marketing myopia” describes when a company is so focused on quick sales and mass production of goods they lose sight of their long-term goals and customer needs.
Second (CIRCA 1992) Consulting with major media companies lead to early identification of Internet media. Led to BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE and launch of first commercial network on the internet.
Third (CIRCA 2007) High Tech <> High Touch defined as the Rainbow Pages Network in a 94 page document "Introductory Prospectus, and Internet Opportunity 2007-2012" by Arthur Rosenfield. Starting in 1992/93, my company created the first self contained marketing universe for information, communication and transactions. Through a portfolio services engineered to create a UNIVERSE of participants who could interact over a common platform and communication system. It added efficiency and convenience to everything we do in daily business and life. This ultimately led to the formation of a micro market version that fed a global systems with millions of participants. One of the largest networks for business and consumers at the time. That also led to the formation of a Chamber of Commerce in the heart of New York City.
